About the workshop: After the collaborativeworkshop "Zen in Daily Life" in Kiev in 2013 Vladimir Starikov, Danny Waxman and his students will lead the Zen workshop in Israel, based on the teaching "Zen in Stillness and Movement". The purpose of the workshop is to guide people to recognition of their inner nature by means of zazen in stillness and in motion and in such a way to maintain in them responsibility as members of the society and in mutual aid.
Mr. Dan Waxman is a layman Soto-Zen teacher. He is an indoor disciple of the Zen-teacher Prof. Masunaga Reiho. He went to Japan in 1958, and there learned, Zen, Jodo, and Ninjutsu, for 13 years, between the years 1958-1984. He was born in 1936 and has three children. He also holds 6th Dan degree from the Kodokan Judo institute and a 15th Dan in Bujinkan Ninjutsu.
Vladimir Starikov (Kiev, Ukraine) began to do meditation and yoga practice under the guidance of Oleg Vetrov in 1999, who was at that time the student of afamous Ukrainian yogi Andrew Siderskiy. In 2002 along with the study course Vladimir began to lead the practice as an instructor. From 2006 till 2010 he was a student and a partner of awell known Ukrainian yogi Slava Smirnov. Vladimir also studied Zen under the guidance of Tenkei Roshi (the Netherlands) and Genki Roshi (the USA) – the followers of Maezumi Roshi. Since August 2011 he has been studying meditation according to the system of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche and has already passedpassed three levels of the Program of the Tergar Meditation Community. Vladimir also received the Meditation Teachings of Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche (Kathmandu, Nepal, 2010) and Tsoknyi Rinpoche (Israel, 2013). In 2010 he became the leader and the instructor of the Zen and Yoga Study Foundation, he is a member of International Zen Association (IZA) of the followers of Deshimaru Roshi.
Vladimir pays special attention to Zen practice in daily life, and in accordance to this practice he began to study and interact creatively with Dany Waxman - the leader of the Soto Zen sangha in Israel ("Zen in Daily Life") and the follower of professor Masunaga.
